End Of the Year Report

Year End Report

I want to make a report on the Preterist Research Institute, for all those interested in knowing a bit of what is going on. I have sent a slightly different report to all of those on my mailing list, including some excellent year end discounts on my books. The past year has been very exciting, and rewarding, and we believe that the upcoming year hold’s even more promise!

We were honored to hold seminars this year in Daleville, Alabama, Carlsbad, N. Mexico, Seattle, Washington and in Marcon, France. I had one formal public debate in Memphis, Tenn. with Michael Bugg, a "Messianic Millennialist." This was an excellent debate, and Lord willing, although we have had some major technological problems along the way, DVDs of that debate should be available before too long. I also participated in two formal written debates, one on the parousia and one on the passing of the Old Law. Both of those debates, that have done a lot of good, are archived on the website, www.eschatology.org. We sponsored the Preterist Pilgrim Weekend here in Ardmore, Oklahoma. We also had a booth at the Abilene Christian University Lectureships, and were able to interact with many, many ministers, pastors, and folks from around the country. This is always a very profitable, and enjoyable experience, and we hope that we do go again this next year.

On the publishing front, we were able to publish another significant new book, entitled Seventy Weeks Are Determined…For the Resurrection. This in-depth study of Daniel 9.24f is a powerful tool to demonstrate the consummation of the Lord’s scheme of redemption in A.D. 70.

This year, Preterist Research Institute was officially recognized as a non-profit organization by the IRS, thus allowing contributions to the ministry to be tax deductible. This was a great relief, naturally, and took tons of paperwork, but is finally finalized.

As you can see, this year has been very busy, very hectic, very rewarding!

This next year, so far, our itinerary includes seminars in Chipley, Florida, Carlsbad, N. M., Sydney, Australia, and we are in discussions with other venues at this time as well. The trip to Australia will be our third trip there, and promises to be very rewarding. Al Pershon is hard at work to spread the word "down under", and plans are for me to speak at four different cities while there! Very exciting stuff!

While no plans have been finalized, and there are many, many obstacles (financial demands), to be overcome, I have received at least three invitations to go to India. One invitation came just this past week. We have also received invitations to hold seminars in Colombia and Venezuela, but, security issues will prevent travel to those countries. Along with William Bell, and support from some dedicated folks, we will man a booth at the Tulsa Soul Winning Workshop in March. There will be 7-8K people there, and we will have the opportunity to share the good news with them!

Also, already confirmed for next year are two major formal, public debates, as well as another (at least one more) formal written debate.

First of all, I will be debating Mac Deaver, a long time minister of the churches of Christ. Deaver is an experienced debater and highly respected in the churches of Christ. This debate will be held in Carlsbad, N. M., in March. Details are on this site. Let me urge you to attend this debate if at all possible!

Second, I will be involved in a formal, four night debate, in Indianapolis, Indiana, July 7-8, 10-11. My opponent will be John Welch, long time church of Christ minister in that area. Welch, like Deaver, is an experienced debater, and this debate will be held during the annual lectureship conducted by Welch’s congregation. This promises to be a very lively, profitable discussion. Word is already spreading about this debate, and some have said that they believe this debate will have a major impact on the church of Christ fellowship.

In addition to these formal public debates, plans are now being made to hold a radio debate, sometime in January, with a dispensationalist, who has engaged in numerous debates. Our topic of discussion will focus on Matthew 16.27-28, and should be a great listen.

I will also be having a formal written debate on the dating of Revelation, with Dr. Lloyd Olsen, a very experienced debater. Clearly, the dating of Revelation is crucial to any proper understanding of eschatology, so this will be an important discussion. We will be posting this on the website as it occurs, so be sure to look forward to that!

On the publishing front, Lord willing, I will be publishing a MSS on 1 Thessalonians 4.13f. This is one of the most crucial eschatological texts in the New Testament. It is the court of appeal by the dispensationalists for their rapture doctrine. All futurists rely on this text to prove a yet future, literal, physical return of Christ at the end of the current age. However, it teaches no such thing! So far, my MSS is nearly 300 pages long, but I am doing my best to keep it to that size. I am very, very excited about this book!

I am also busy writing a book on the Song of Moses (Deuteronomy 32), since I believe that it provides the framework for Paul’s ministry and eschatology– not to mention its impact on Revelation!

Also, I am making progress on a book on the Millennium. William Bell and I are actually collaborating on this work, which will seek to demonstrate, definitively and scripturally, that the millennium ended at the end of the Old Covenant World in A.D. 70.

I just finished with a revision and expansion of my Seal Up Vision and Prophecy book also. The proof copy is in my hands for final corrections, and Lord willing, that should be done– this is its third printing!– within a month or two at the most.

One of the most exciting events of this upcoming year will be our Preterist Pilgrim Weekend, July 17-19! We will have six speakers this year, including William Bell, Jack Scott, Sam Frost, Jeremy Lile, Larry Siegle, and myself. This is the most speakers we have ever had, and the theme will be the resurrection of the dead! I don’t have to tell you that the resurrection is normally the "final" piece of the puzzle for most folks studying Covenant Eschatology. I am super excited about this seminar! Make your plans now to be with us!

As you can see, things are happening, doors are opening, the Truth is marching on! There is so much to do! I hope that you are as excited about what is happening, and what can happen, as we are.

Finally, I want to express my appreciation to those of you who are supporting us with monthly gifts. Words simply cannot express my appreciation appropriately. As I have mentioned before, I am not used to "begging for bread", and it is simply difficult to ask anyone for help! But, as it stands, it is absolutely necessary, for without your gifts and support, we simply could not, and cannot do what we are doing. It is that simple.

If you believe in what we are doing, I would like to humbly ask that you consider supporting us on a monthly basis. As the old saying goes, no amount is too small! You can even do it e
lectronically, on our website, through PayPal, a very secure method. I must share with you the unfortunate fact that we will be losing a significant amount of monthly support this next year, as some folk’s commitment was for a limited time, and that time expires this next year. That is, unless their circumstances change. We simply must make up these lost commitments, or things will not be good!

I know that some have said that you cannot do a monthly amount, but, can send a check from time to time. Well, I can tell you that this helps, a lot!

We are now at the end of the year, and tax time is around the corner. If you would like to give to a truly worthwhile cause, in full confidence that it will be used properly, then I would like to ask that you please consider a year end gift to Preterist Research Institute.

There is so much to do, and as everyone knows, it takes money to do it! Unfortunately, much of what we do is underfunded, and we have a lot of out of pocket expenses. Very, very seldom do we receive any actual honorarium for speaking. Almost invariably, we have some extra expenses that are not covered. We are hopeful that this will change in the near future, but, for the moment, that is the way things stand. We do not resent this, however, as we know that it is a great sacrifice on the part of many seminar sponsors to hold a seminar, and we so much appreciate the dedication and sacrifice being made by so many.

As you can see, we do need your help! It is critical that we raise the monthly support that we will be losing. So, I would like to ask that you give this your prayerful and thoughtful consideration. The message that we all believe in is taking hold, spreading, and accomplishing great things! We need to continue to write, to debate, to speak, as opportunities arise. We need to help the world to see Christ as the vindicated, glorified, reigning King of Kings and Lord of Lords! So, please join us as we seek to spread the wonderful, liberating, Christ focused and Christ magnifying message of God’s completed salvation!

Let us hear from you, and thanks again for the continuing prayerful support!

Don’t forget that for even greater discounts on all of my material, sign up for our mailing list, and let me know!

For His Truth, and In His Grace,

Don K. Preston
